"Wildpics Moments" with the Great spotted woodpecker in France

Good afternoon and hello again from Wildpics. Today we would like to share a moment we had with a young Great spotted woodpecker. This guy was defiantly taking advantage of the abundant hazelnut crop this year. It was fascinating watching him use a particular notch in a tree as a vice to hold the hazelnuts as he opened them. It was a great day in the French woods.
