In the second episode of Tradition Heard, we continue further into the tango renaissance of Buenos Aires and meet actress-turned-singer Julieta Laso. Accompanied by guitarists from Cuarteto La Púa, Julieta performed an enchanting set at the Galpón Multiespacio, a venue in the San Cristobal neighborhood of Buenos Aires.
After enjoying some Malbec, I listened to Julieta's renditions of tango classics from the 1920s. We then spoke about how she transitioned from actress to tango chanteuse, something she never dreamed of doing.
The song performed by Julieta in this video is "De Mi Barrio," music and lyrics by Roberto Goyheneche, 1923.
