I present a short time-lapse vignette of scenes shot on the Fundy Shore of Nova Scotia, site of the highest tides in the world. I include two tidal time-lapses: the first shot at Evangeline Beach and the second shot at Halls Harbour, showing the tremendous range in sea level as the tide comes in. A rising tide truly does lift all boats!
Both time-lapse clips extend from not long after lowest tide to highest tide, with each taken over about 3 hours.
The video ends with a time-lapse of the Sun and Moon – the sources of the tides – setting over the Bay of Fundy, in a sequence shot from Point Prim near Digby, Nova Scotia.
I shot these sequences August 17 and 18, 2015, during a short speaking trip to Nova Scotia. My host, Dr. Roy Bishop, an expert on local history and tides, guided me to these prime sites for photographing these marvellous tides, created by the pull of the Moon.
