We have designed and made equipment with two work points for the automatic soldering of connectors onto the inside of rear/side Audi car windows. At one work point, the product is loaded by the operator, and at the other the antenna contacts are automatically attached to a glass pane, with a robot then automatically soldering the connectors. At the end of the process, the electrical conductivity between the contacts – and hence the soldering quality – is tested. On completion of the operation, the operator removes the finished product and loads new components. The soldering cycle directly on the glass is tracked by a CCTV system, enabling the operator to monitor the soldering process in real time. For each window, the system saves information on the actual soldering temperature, the soldering time and the outcome of the inter-contact conductivity test. Throughout the time the machinery is running, the work points are periodically alternated to guarantee production fluency.
