During the week of the 2015 Perseids Meteor shower, we followed 23 high schoolers on their OMSI Astronomy Camp trip. First half of the week was spent at Camp Hancock, far out in the High Desert of Oregon. Second half of the week, the campers joined the Oregon Star Party, a gathering of over 600 astronomers celebrating the night sky together. Along the way, we brought out a couple DSLRs, kindly provided by the local Pro Photo Supply, to set up for night photos and teach the students how to do night images of the stars.
We saw tons of shooting stars, oooh'd and ahhh'd at fireballs bursting across the sky; looked through dozens of specialized telescopes brought to the field by local astronomers; and enjoyed a full week of being out under the stars. Good times were had by all.
Shout out to the Sony Alpha team, we shot all of this on the A7s, pushing it to its utter limits of 60-100K ISO. Sony is truly revolutionizing what we can do in the dark. Bravo.
