The Sublime Apparatus is a response to the notion that all experience is situated and embodied. It is a machinic expression of topographic data consisting of a stationary bicycle positioned in near-total darkness where participants ride alien and impossible topographies where data is expressed as tension. Riders may select the sublime topography they wish to ride which is then enacted via alterations in tempo and tension-difficulty. Situated in an environment that limits vision, the rider is forced to consider the feedback of their non-visual systems which, as the data-tension ticks by, works to entangle the rider as contingent phenomena sensing-machine of the Sublime Apparatus.
