Part of a whirlwind production schedule in Switzerland, this segment covers the area surrounding the grand Lake Geneva. One of the quaint villages situated in the Jura Mountains surrounding the lake is Sainte-Croix. It's a mecca for skilled craftsman who produce Switzerland's famous music boxes and other artistic mechanics. Next up is Chillon Castle in Montreux situated right on the lake. The castle as it is today dates from the 13th century and was built to control the passage along Lake Geneva. The fortress was also used as an arsenal, prison, and temporary residence of the Dukes of Savoy. Lastly the Gothic Cathedral in Lausanne features a tradition that has continued since 1405. A "town-crier" shouts out the hours between 10 p.m. & 2 a.m. from the cathedral's clock tower and makes sure there are no fires. Switzerland is definitely one of the most visually spectacular countries. Want to visit this beautiful region? Visit the Lake Geneva Tourism website for information.
