The Collect, Construct, Change (C3) project is a youth-centered learning program that engages middle-school-aged youth as citizen scientists and journalists. The project utilizes smart phones, DIY science probes, and an inquiry-based curriculum. Youth research and report on local environmental conditions in their neighborhood, exposing these conditions to analysis as a means of advocating for change.
This video documents just the last day of camp - the design and construction of their own DIY carbon monoxide sensors. Some students also designed DIY ambient sound (noise pollution) sensors. Green, yellow, and red LEDs display the data (from safe - dangerous levels) in real-time.
Kits will be available soon!
