Update: With great sadness I have to report that John passed away Saturday, November 14th, 2015 at the age of 98. This video is the raw, un-edited version of an interview I did with John D. Anderson, survivor of the sinking of the USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. In this interview I ask him to tell his story of that day starting from when he awoke that morning. His story is compelling. John also talks about his radio and TV career in Roswell, NM after the war. As 'Cactus Jack' he became a well-known local personality and did an afternoon daily TV show for kids. John also tells the story of when he was a disc jockey on KSWS Radio and Elvis Presley walked in. Elvis was in town to open for Hank Snow. John also gives a lot of personal details about himself. And, at one point, John looks at the camera and delivers a heartfelt 'thank you' to everyone. The interview took place on April 23, 2011. This video can be used by anyone who is not making money from it. All I ask is that Don Smith - NewsVideo.com be credited.
