"FABLE" is a new evening-length production set in the sprawling 60, 000 sq. ft of the Knockdown Center in Maspeth, Queens which premieres on October 8th, 2015. For six nights, our team of artists will merge immersive and contemporary dance theatre, independent music and large-scale scenic design to create an enthralling and unforgettable experience.
Our latest work brings together the talents of a remarkable collective to present a revelatory encounter between a man and a mysterious voice who, over the course of a surreal and increasingly volatile evening, explore the variable boundary between delusion and actuality.
We have spent a significant personal investment in the last four months developing, rehearsing and designing, and now we are asking for your help in bringing this ambitious and exciting new production to life.
The funds raised through our campaign will directly support the large team of talented artists and crew, pay for rehearsals, design and create sets/costuming, and invest in the technology necessary to achieve the stunning, sound-reactive spaces that will seamlessly surround the audience during their experience.
The production features a giant, sound-reactive enclosure that showcases a different, acclaimed musician for each of the six performances, a 360-degree sound environment and an array of transforming light systems from floor to ceiling. Utilizing a shifting proscenium, an unpredictable choreographic and theatrical narrative immerses the audience on a journey through the incomparable expanse of a century-old structure.
"FABLE" features music written and performed live by Blonde Redhead, Julianna Barwick, Mauro Remiddi (Porcelain Raft), David Moore (Bing & Ruth), Skyler Skjelset (Fleet Foxes, Beach House), Sarah Neufeld (Arcade Fire), Prince Rama, White Hinterland, Hannah Epperson and many other guests to be revealed in the days leading to the performances.
Written in collaboration with the actors, the performance features Paul Corning and Rosalie Lowe as a mercurial author whose engrossing fantasies have become an impediment to his waking life and the voice that accompanies him through the realms of his rapidly subsuming fantasies.
Ruby Kato Attwood will be heading up a massive installation process in the voluminous interior of the center, taking place over a four-week residency leading up to the show dates.
Choreographed by Emily Terndrup in collaboration with the dancers, the performance features Rebecca Margolick, Ashley Robicheaux, Kenna Tuski, Daniel Staaf, Maxwell Perkins and Dan Walczak.
Please consider supporting the campaign and join us in our effort to create this intricate, innovative and thrilling collaboration!
