Arts Initiative. Dueling Saxophones. Godwin Louis began playing saxophone at age nine, and grew up in Bridgeport, Connecticut and Port au Prince, Haiti. He is a graduate from the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute for Jazz Performance. As a multi-instrumentalist, Marcus Miller is highly proficient as a keyboardist, clarinetist/bass clarinetist and, primarily, as a world-renowned electric bassist.
When we invited Godwin Louis and Marcus Miller to perform on our construction site, we knew that they were two very exciting young horn players, each with an uncanny grasp of the serendipitous. What we didn’t realize was that they were already acquainted and would discover, that day, a joyful and exhilarating new collaboration
This video is part of a compelling series that offers a glimpse into how artists warmed up the space at Grace Farms while construction was underway in 2014. This collaborative event set the stage for the Foundation's unique approach to interdisciplinary arts programming.
