This is my entry for the mapping contest at the second edition (2015) of the Festival Internacional de Màpping de Girona. It's about opposing urban / city features against natural, open landscape related elements and views.
In some ways is a kind of a rehearsal / preproduction phase of a more ambitious project I'm working on and from which you can see a first approach here vimeo.com/123486824
The most time consuming part was the conceptualization of the whole thing and the editing of the piece according to what I wanted to express and the music I used. And after that I ran out of time to do a really detailed execution on 3D, so I've decided to put on practice the motto of "getting things done" more than obsessing about a particular effect and make things worse. Because in a contest you never know if your efforts are going to be rewarded, I needed to find a balance in the energy I put on it.
Even though there are many thing that could be improved, I'm satisfied with the overall result provided that this is my first full-length mapping that I did alone, and perhaps the last one, too ;) . An important thing: I've enjoyed the creative and execution process and learned many things too, so I'm satisfied.
Everything digital is done with Blender, and the preproduction work with just pens and a notebook; I'm looking forward to publish some details about this, stay tuned!
