Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)
Each of us carries a room within ourselves, waiting to be furnished and peopled, and if you listen closely, you may need to silence everything in your own room, you can hear the sounds of that other room inside your head.-Susan Sontag
I was tired of my pictures being so static using this technique brings the illusion of movement using Running up that hill (A deal with God) I know the song is about men and woman not understanding each other ya know because we are just wired different, but to me its spiritual not in the God church sense, the feel of the song to me its my battle with myself i am the man and the woman the good and the bad the dark and the light. i used shadows to convey a sense of the psychological battle within ones self.
After two years Iv finally finished this body of work the over all body of work is called the Blueroom (a prisoner of my mind). The Blueroom is a reference to the padded cell as it known in the psych ward in Tallaght hospital.
Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suit on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life...your money back, trainspotting. I suppose you're gonna tell me there's no trains in it either.
