Dressing is an audio-video installation to be projected onto various interior and exterior surfaces, and looped endlessly. In Dressing, I engage in an perpetual struggle to strip away and demolish a femininity that is stringent and potent. I capture myself through second-long automated exposures, during rapid and frantic stages of dressing and undressing, with multiple layers of clothing. This work is foremost about my personal struggles with clothing. I ask, how can I exist as a feminist and a naturist, and at the same time succumb to the fetish of fabrics, colours and flow of feminine materials? The still images in Dressing were aesthetically and conceptually timed to work with my collaborators, Mihnea Panu and Raluca Parvu’s, sound track.
This online version of the work is looped three times, to suggest the flow of the intended endless loop once installed. Dressing belongs to a current growing body of work entitled The Laundry Series.
