Seit den 1980er Jahren sind die Arbeitsschwerpunkte der in Berlin lebenden Künstlerin Gisela Weimann Klanginstallationen und experimentelle Musiktheater Produktionen, an denen Künstler/-innen und Theoretiker/-innen mehrerer Fachrichtungen und unterschiedlicher nationaler Herkunft beteiligt sind. Häufig verwendet sie Spiegel als Arbeitsmaterial, archetypisches Symbol der Selbstbefragung und Medium der Kommunikation. Das zentrale Thema ihrer Reflexionen und bildnerischen Untersuchungen sind dabei der Mensch, die ihn umgebenden Räume und die Zeit – Zeit als Erinnerung, Traum und Jetzt, der Mensch in der Selbstbetrachtung und als ’Anderer’ / die ’Anderen’.
Bei ihren kooperativen Projekten enthebt sie vorgefundene architektonische Details beim „Treppentheater rauf und runter“ ihrer normalen Funktion, verwandelt Alltagsgegenstände in Kunstwerke und Alltagsereignisse bei der „Oper für 4 Busse“ und der „Küchensymphonie in fünf Gängen mit Verköstigung“ in komplexe kommunikative Prozesse, mit dem gleichzeitigen Anliegen, neue Formen der internationalen Zusammenarbeit und der Vermittlung zeitgenössischer Kunst zu entwickeln.
Mit ihrem Team „Weimann Sisters Limited“ (Theo Nabicht, Daniel Ploeger, Winfried Rager und Michael Schlabes) realisiert sie seit 2006 experimentelle Tanzprojekte.

Since the 80s the focal points of my work are sound installations, performances and experimental music-theatre productions which involve artists and theorists from different fields and national descend. I often use mirrors as a working material, archetypal symbol of self-questioning and medium of communication. The central theme of my reflections and my visual research is the human being and the space and time that surround us – time as memory, dream and the present and man as somebody who examines not only him- and herself but also ‘the others’.
To allow for creative work with ‘the others’ I invent cooperative projects like, for example, “The Staircase Theatre” where I change the normal function of an existing architectural detail, or my “Opera for 4 Buses” and my “Kitchen Symphony in Five Courses with Service“ which become the starting point for transformation of every day objects and events into works of art and complex communication processes. I enjoy the search for and the development of new forms for international working relationships and the playful mediation of contemporary art.
In 2006 I founded the small company “Weimann Sisters Limited” and began to realize the “Four Winds Ballet” series of experimental dance projects with musicians.
