In this video IOP Counselor, Laura Plowman, describes the Intensive Outpatient Program at Las Vegas Recovery Center. An Intensive Outpatient Program, also known as IOP, is a program that includes 9 or more service hours of treatment per week in group or individual counseling. This type of program is suitable for those that lead busy lives with home and/or work life, however require clinical structure and education to treat their drug or alcohol problem.
The program is good for participants who have graduated inpatient living, offering a step-down level of care in a controlled setting where they can remain accountable and continue to build relapse prevention skills. The program is also for those who are able to achieve abstinence on their own, however struggle with maintaining that abstinence over time.
IOP offers three group sessions per week, one individual session per week and allows family members to participate in support. For flexibility purposes, day and evening programs are available to meet the needs of participants with varying schedules.
