Despite the heat, it was a great start after a nice three-day weekend. The dogs were full of energy on the way up to the park. Out of the gate, a few of the dogs sprinted in big, wide circles, trying to cajole their friends to play. Others took to resting in the shade to catch their breath, camouflaged in the trees. Eventually all the dogs were ready to roll. We saw plenty of play bows and demand barks for play.
So many of the dogs took to fetching (Beau, Ruby, Lola, Frannie and Blue come to mind), while others to playful wrestling (Can we say Frannie and Toby and Frannie and Starr? And let's not forget Dos and Lola!) But most of the energy burned this morning was playing chase. It was the biggest race the park has ever seen! Sasha started it all. Beau, Blue, Starr and Lola pursued, and before we knew it the contagion had spread. Dos started chasing Lola. Starr went off and chased Frannie, then a dog named Stella, before switching back to Frannie. Alma joined in of course. For how could she not! It was a massive free-for-all. It was a hoot! We love seeing our dogs give it their all.
To round things out, we worked on their recall and stays. All scored handsome wild boar treats. Plus, to cool them off they each got ample water.
