“The choreographer Stephanie Thiersch is invited to the festival “Tanz im August” with this piece. She shows humans in extreme states, creates strong pictures. (…) The piece inebriates our senses, pushes the dancers and the audience to the limits.” rbb stilbruch
“The unleashed sounding bodies are choreographed in a haunting manner. „Bronze by Gold“ leads into absolut exhaustion. Only the DJ keeps on turning his vinyls.” Der Tagesspiegel
Music and dance, intensities, rhythms and styles meld, interweave and overlap in “Bronze by Gold”, intoxicating the senses and incorporating James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, Beethoven’s Great Fugue, the Asasello Quartet, DJ Elephant Power, seven dancers, Márton of Illés’s “Torso V”, and Hikari Kiyama’s “Raga φ”. Twelve bodies swirl in unison to create a vortex, an electrifying pulse exerts an irresistible pull for a utopian community. The disaster remains invisible, the images of its reverberation infesting the bodies, punching out poses of despair familiar from the media, gestures of solidarity, post-apocalyptic embraces. Or perhaps pre-apocalyptic, for there is no end in sight, the dance goes on, always and forevermore…
