Petersburg, IL is the town surveyed by and made famous by Abraham Lincoln. His relationship with Ann Rutledge has been the subject of various movies over the years. While there are differing views by historians, this movie is told in the words of local author Ray Montgomery who lives about two miles from Lincoln's New Salem and just down the street from Oakland Cemetery, final resting place of Ann Rutledge. His perspective is unique in that many descendents of Ann Rutledge still live in the area and oral histories have been passed down over the generations. Ray has authored several local history books and was born less than 60 years after the death of Lincoln. Local families have shared information about one of their most famous ancestors. The video takes you to the two cemeteries in which Ann was interred and the story is told by native son Raymond Montgomery.
