We travelled to Cassis to try and capture the essence of Classic Yacht Racing, which attracts people of all ages and backgrounds to the South of France. Eilidh is a Bermudan cutter built in Scotland In 1930 by renowned designer Alfred Mylne. She is one of a fleet of lovingly-restored classic racing yachts that spend the summer racing across the Mediterranean.
Jean-François Behar, owner and skipper of Eilidh, fell in love with classic yachts after playing on Erol Flynn’s abandoned scooner Zaca as a child in Villefranche.
He spent three years renovating Eilidh to her original condition and she remains a work of art in everyday use. Jean-François invited is to enjoy one of the highlights of the classic yacht-racing season, the Calanques Classique. The race takes place between the busy international port of Marseille and the intimate harbour town of Cassis. As you can see, a great time was had by all.
The film was shot by Rob Alexander (Perfect Motion), edited by Warren Orchard and Steven Davies and produced by Iestyn George for idgmedia.
