Madison, author of MADELINE KAHN: BEING THE MUSIC, A LIFE (http://www.upress.state.ms.us/books/1746) hosts an all-star tribute at New York’s Metropolitan Room, featuring several of Kahn’s friends and colleagues, as well as performers from Broadway, opera, and cabaret who have been inspired by her. Shapiro (MAC Award-winner, HBO’s The Normal Heart), Lawrence Leritz (actor–choreographer–producer, guest star on Cosby), Janice Hall (MAC Award-winner, internationally acclaimed operatic soprano) and Michael Cohen (composer, Yours, Anne; Kahn’s music director at the Upstairs at the Downstairs club), Rosa Betancourt (rising operatic soprano), Steve Ross (“The Crown Prince of Cabaret”), Joan Copeland and Walter Willison (Kahn’s co-stars in Two by Two), Hanna Burke (Met Room favorite), Ann Harada (Avenue Q, Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella, NBC TV’s Smash), Minda Larsen (winner of the 2015 MetroStar Competition), Julie Feltman (Unauthorized! The Musical), Sarah Rice (original Johanna in Sweeney Todd).
