The mural arts project has been made possible thanks in part to a $5,000 grant from the Emily and William Muir Fund and the Knox Fund for Youth Arts of the Maine Community. The purpose of this Farnsworth-led project is to engage local youth in creating public art in downtown Rockland. The project has been guided by local community mural artist Alexis Iammarino who runs SaturdayStudio at the Rockland Recreation Center. She was joined by two professional Baltimore-based mural artists, “Jessie and Katey”, who have been collaborating on large-scale murals and installations across the country since 2001. The mural was also completed with help of local artists and volunteers of all ages. The mural unveiling will celebrate the efforts of all those involved, give the public the opportunity to meet this artists and toast this new addition to the cultural vibrancy of Rockland’s downtown.
