National Indigenous Theatre Forum 17-19 September 2015
The 4th National Indigenous Theatre Forum (NITF) was held at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts, Brisbane, as part of the 2015 Brisbane Festival. The NITF saw 70 Indigenous theatre practitioners and administrators taking part in a three-day forum focused on the establishment of an independent structure for the Indigenous theatre sector. The key purpose of this structure is to strengthen and grow Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander theatre to provide a leadership voice in the arts for the 21st Century.
The NITF is supported through the Queensland Government by the Judith Wright Centre and Arts Queensland, part of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet; the Australian Government Department of the Ministry for the Arts through the Indigenous Culture Support Program; the South Australian Government through Arts SA; and the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria.
