THE MEANING OF LIFE - The first site-specific installation aboard the ISS

JumpCut

A joint initiative between the European Space Agency, the artist Vhils and the film “The Meaning of Life”, a site-specific artwork was specially conceived and installed at the ISS’s cupola, the only place where it is possible to have the privilege of seeing earth in all its plenitude.

At the Space Station’s cupola, and as a result of its rotation over our planet it is possible to watch the sunrise and the sunset around 16 times a day. VHILS piece incorporated in its initial concept all the different shades the planet’s rotation and its geography project on the face of the astronaut Andreas Mogensen.
