"Community engagement" is the new black! What does this really mean? How do we build authentic relationships with our communities that turns them into audiences?
Speaker: Heather Dransfield
Organisation: Arts On Tour
Position: General Manager
Heather is the General Manager of Arts on Tour and is one of the country’s most experienced tour coordinators. Her first experience of regional touring was as a seven year old living in the small wheat belt town of Morawa when the legendary Mucky Duck Bush Band came to town. Apart from providing her first intro to the heel and toe that experience taught her the joy and sense of connection that the arts can bring to a community.
A little while after that, Heather began a career in the performing arts as a stage manager working for many companies including Black Swan State Theatre Company, Perth Theatre Company and Windmill Theatre as well as managing numerous events for the City of Perth and City of Fremantle.
In 2004, Heather moved east and joined the team at Arts on Tour as the Touring Manager. Loving her work with the organisation, she moved into her current role in 2012. This year Heather will oversee the delivery of her 120th national touring project with the organisation.
