Maritza was an iLEAP International Fellow in 2014. She began her career working in Brooklyn, New York, as a Program Coordinator and Lead Trainer for Career Pathways Program. There she provided career counseling services and case management assistant to those facing homelessness, domestic violence, and chronic unemployment. Maritza returned to El Salvador in 2011, starting as a volunteer English teacher and basketball coach for Glasswing International, a nonprofit that seeks to transform at-risk communities in Central America, focusing on the areas of education and public health. She is currently the Regional Education Manager at Glasswing. She graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a degree in political science.
