Music is one of the most powerful ways the Maasai share their community life, the stories of their people, and pass on their beliefs and values. This song celebrates the blessings of the Creator in a uniquely Maasai style - through their tradition of choral singing, dancing, and village life.
This is a music video for the En-Kata Choir, a Maasai choir from Tanzania. They are part of an indigenous community development organization called MAPED. As a community of Maasai followers of Jesus, their vision is to use their music to share the freedom they have found in Christ and the power of the gospel to overcome the darker effects of their traditional ways.
They have won many Maasai music festival competitions and did a brief tour of the US in early 2010. The proceeds from their activities go to building schools, HIV/AIDS education, women's rights, and other development work in their area.

The lyrics for the song are in Swahili.
My teammate, Matt Castagna, edited this video we shot during a brief trip to Simanjiro, Tanzania in August 2010. It was made in partnership with MAPED and Pamoja Ministries/Kahawa Media in Arusha. You can find more information here: pamoja.info
