Video of Bat-Bot1
Bat-Bots forms a responsive system, creating a generative sound space. As the Bat-Bots detect the presence of a person they emit recorded tracks of echolocations that vary as a person walks closer. The bat echolocations were automatically recorded in a bat house equipped with high frequency sensors. The bots use ultra-sonic distance sensors, which are essentially a machine version of echolocation, mimicking the biological sensors of the bats. This work seeks to give the silent bats a voice in an increasingly challenging world, giving the bats an audible presence in the urban space.
