Since it was founded in 1969, the Simón I. Patiño Educational and Cultural Centre has organised over 2,900 cultural events, attended by more than 252,000 people; more than 4 million library visits; and hosted more than 1.5 million visitors to Portales Palace and its exhibitions.
The Simón I. Patiño Educational and Cultural Centre plays a key role in promoting Bolivian and international literature, the arts and all aspects of the country’s culture, by organising numerous events and activities throughout the year. We also encourage research and the learning of literacy through our own network of external libraries; and run training programmes for primary and secondary school teachers.
In the cultural domain, throughout the year our centre promotes research into, and appreciation and dissemination of, Bolivian and Latin American culture through artistic and literary events (exhibitions, concerts, plays, lectures, festivals and conferences).
