COMPOUND INTEREST is a setup of 2 turntables,2 super-8 projectors which are microphoned and routed through effect machines.
All materials used are found objects: an old film reel, a vinyl of cut-up-recordings by Burroughs, a 500€ bill.
All sources are linked to each other; the film reel is mounted on a turntable and read by the needle like a vinyl. The projectors are microphoned, routed through vocoder- and granular-syntheses-effects. The 500€ bill had been scanned and separated into primary colors (RGB). Those RGB layers are superimposed as projections and reconstruct on the audience’s retinas.
KREUSER/CAILLEAU is a duo project of the the german composer Timo Kreuser and the french filmmaker Guillaume Cailleau. Their fetish is approaching objects as container of signifying function, generalized meaning and sociocultural contexts. By ignoring the primary features of things, and instead focusing on the potential of the object itself as sonic and visual stimulator, meaning gets moulded into new contexts and the original understanding of it is violated. Their interest in creating installations and live events is a continuation of the dialog between the two artists and their individual confrontations with the corporealities of their subjects.
