The Network Controller is a communication middleware that interconnects different entities following a publish-subscribe schema. It has been used to interconnect PVSio-web prototypes of medical devices in order to model an Integrated Clinical Environment , the next-generation medical system where interoperable medical devices exchange data and commands. For example patient monitor could automatically stop an infusion pump when the onset of respiratory depression is detected.
