The film introduces my latest application-oriented R&D work in the field of non-photorealistic rendering (NPR) in the area of the so-called painterly rendering. Based on my developed theoretical model of a new texturing method for my master thesis, for which I already created an algorithm-based approach (d_PAINT: see below), the research aim was to develop a purely artist-driven painterly creation tool for single 3D objects or complete sceneries for the usage in animation productions of any kind.
Inspired by 2D paint programs such as Corel Painter or Adobe Photoshop, RiPainter3D is especially designed to create images with the same two-dimensional look and feel, but painting them in the 3rd dimension. Therefore, RiPainter3D is beyond of any conventional 3D texture painting. RiPainter3D gives you full artistic freedom to create digital paintings in 360°.
To get more information about RiPainter3D, a technical paper - title: RiPainter3D: WYSIWYG 3D-Canvas-Paint-System zur artwork-gerichteten kohärenten Bilderzeugung durch den 3D Artist für die Verwendung in Animationen - as well as an info brochure are available (both currently in German only).

RiPainter3D opens up to a wider audience and open source integration.
RiPainter3D now natively supports in its latest version different RenderMan compliant renderer as well as different image output formats. For an accurate render result, RiPainter3D now comes with a built-in pen pressure calibration system.
