Arizona-based artist, Gregory Sale is an advocate for justice reform and successful re-entry after incarceration. When participants in his long-term projects on the culture of incarceration began completing their prison or jail sentences, Sale witnessed firsthand the daunting task of finding a job or a place to live. Their challenges and their desire not to return to the system have become the focus of his work. In 2015, he began The Renewal Project: Art, Policy, and Perception to serve as an official artist affiliate with the Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) based in Los Angeles, CA. Re-Imaging Re-Entry will be the first outcome of this work. In this video presentation, Sale highlights excerpts from his on-going research and collaborative projects that are building to this future work.
