Right now we have a historic opportunity to permanently protect nearly 200,000 acres of public lands in the California mountains and desert with an Antiquities Act designation. Sand to Snow National Monument will protect some of the most diverse and important landscapes in the country.
Located in the heart of inland Southern California, the proposed Sand to Snow National Monument rises steeply from the Sonoran Desert floor up to Mount San Gorgonio, Southern California’s tallest peak, linking the San Gorgonio Wilderness to Joshua Tree National Park and the San Bernardino National Forest.
Sand to Snow National Monument offers opportunities for recreation and respite to hundreds of thousands of people living in the surrounding urban communities. And, perhaps more importantly, the monument will be a place for children to explore, discover and learn, instilling in them a connection to nature and a desire to protect it for generations to come.
Tell President Obama these lands deserve to be protected in perpetuity.
