Michael Schlitz is one of Australia's best and most well known printmakers. He has his prints hanging in the Australian National Gallery, the Tasmanian Art Gallery, the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Queensland Art Gallery and many, many more.
Living a simple life in the Tasmanian bush, off the grid with no electricity or running water, Michael makes do with fire and oil lamps. He chooses the philosophy of simplicity in his art as well, from the tools his uses, to printing by hand.
This film is directed, co-produced and filmed by Joanna Stuart and co-produced and edited by ABC Open producer for Southern Tasmania, Lara van Raay.
It is part of the ABC Open project - Makers and Creators.
