In early spring 2007 I spent some weeks deep in China, and in regions of indeginous peoples, mainly the Tibetan areas. Profoundly, I got to visit and pray in the home, the birthplace of His Holiness The Dalai Lama. (destroyed by Chinese but rebuilt on same location) Some of the regions I would visit and monks I would get to know were hit hard by the earthquake in early 2010, especially Yushu, but several months before this natural disaster I had feared some of the monks I met were again going through another round of severe oppression. This ten minute short on the Tibetan issue was in conjunction with the full documentary on my trip to China "China and our Relationship", and the "Commentary" video. It reflects some of the hopeful and encouraging spirit I felt His Holiness was putting forth at the time. Since 2007, from the Olympics onward it seems there has been steps backward by the Chinese government. Increasing infusion of Han in the areas and increasing development without regard for environment nor the people of Tibet. Repression of the people and the official vilification of His Holiness as the cause of unrest has multiplied. My prayers and thoughts go out for healing and better trust building, for less lies, and less fear, more truth and more getting to know His Holiness for who he is.
The music here is my own mixed in with some recorded chanting of monks. Once again, the camera was malfunctioning and some tape lost, but we go with what we have.
