With three Gold medals in three successive Commonwealth Games, Sir Peter Heatly was a record-breaking athlete who was the only Scottish athlete ever to achieve such a feat. After studying engineering in his native Edinburgh, Peter would go on to travel the globe in his pursuit for the perfect dive - all at a time when plane travel was very rare indeed!
Peter wasn't just a great athlete however, he was also a passionate advocate for sport. Following his retirement, Sir Peter managed the Scottish team at subsequent Commonwealth Games before becoming the President of the Commonwealth Games Federation culminating in bringing the 1986 Commonwealth Games to his home city of Edinburgh.
