Composed by Chritstin Southworth, she writes, "Super Collider is inspired by the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, the largest machine ever built. The LHC is designed to change science forever, attempting to recreate the beginning of the universe in a tube and to prove (or disaprove) the theories of particle physics of the last half-century. My Super Collider explores two obverse sound worlds and traditions: the vast culture fo the string quartet juxtaposed with the ancient performance methods of a gamelan, unleashed through the unlimited sonic universe of electronics. In our own experiment, this moment of musical collision will hopefully achieve similarly unparalleled result."
Performed by Kronos Quartet and Gamelan Galak Tika.
