Today, Move Beyond Green presents footage from Tom Hicks’ talk on sustainable infrastructure from the Navy’s perspective. You may recall our interview with Mr. Hicks, who until recently led the Building Performance Initiative at the U.S. Green Building Council. Since then, Mr. Hicks has transitioned into his new role as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Energy. This presentation focuses on the Navy’s current push for greater energy security, as steered by the Secretary of the Navy’s top five energy goals: improve energy efficiency in the acquisition process, sail the “Great Green Fleet,” reduce non-tactical energy use, increase alternative energy ashore, and increase alternative energy use Navy-wide.
While you may view the slides as they occur during the video, they are also available for download at the E2S2 website. We hope you enjoy the presentation, and see how a former green builder is now leading the way to achieve a more intelligent energy strategy for the U.S. Navy.
