In July 2013, the Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and Chinese tycoon Wang Jing signed an agreement for building a new interoceanic canal in Nicaragua, an alternative commercial waterway to Panama Canal. On December 22nd 2014, they inaugurated the beginning of works in Managua with a ceremony that involved most of the population. The whole speech was broadcast live by the main national television channels and the most important radio programs.
The documentary addresses the environmental concerns, behind social and economic development of the project, through interviews with environmentalists and local politicians, including the ex-Vice President of Nicaragua, Sergio Ramirez, and the poet and theologian Ernesto Cardenal. But it is also a journey along the path of the future channel, in those wild and uncharted territories that will be suffer the consequences of this huge work.
