Paper Pattern Print is a SURFACE 1°22 project that celebrates hand-craftsmanship and traditional art making methods. The project responds to a growing global interest in the applied arts, the evolving multi-disciplinarity of art and design, and a renewed appreciation of hand-drawn images and handmade objects. The introductory Paper Pattern Print workshop invites participants to design of square-shaped motifs on paper using pencils, markers, chalk or paints to colour by hand. These basic units are then copied and repeated to create all-over patterns that can be applied manually or digitally, onto a variety of surfaces; from fashion fabric to wallpaper, interior furnishings to fashion accessories.
