Images from a recent trip to Lake Ballard (166kms north of Kalgoorlie) with three photographers Mark Stothard, Dave Bettini and brother Christian.
Lake Ballard is famous for its amazing sculptures by English artist Antony Gormley which dot the vast landscape of an amazing salt lake. There are 51 altogether and they represent 51 local residents of the town of Menzies.
The biggest problem I had with this shoot was to animate an object that doesn't move and make it interesting. I thought of timelapse first up and due to not a single cloud making an appearance I had to settle for some shadow movement and some night work.
Other techniques I used included using a 12 foot crane and panning and zooming in post.
It's an amazing landscape and we plan to return when the summer storms appear and hopefully fill the lake with water for reflections and hopefully some nice lightning and clouds (any clouds will do).
