This patient experienced combined alkali, thermal, and blunt trauma to the eye
secondary to firework injury. He had significant limbal ischemia with a persistent corneal
epithelial defect, areas of non-viable conjunctiva, and was forming symblephara despite Prokera
ring placement. We performed debridement of the non-viable tissue and placed amniotic
membrane grafts over the cornea, limbus, and area of debridement. We then lined the fornices
with additional amniotic membrane grafts and placed fornix-forming sutures.
