Featuring:
The documentary features an experiential adventure into post market NES development. In the quest to develop the game, the team meets prominent industry creatives such as Piers Anthony (21 time best selling fantasy novelist; Xanth, Incarnations of Immortality), Adam Goldberg (creator of ABC's The Goldbergs), and David Sardy (producer, mixer and composer; Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, score composer for Zombieland, Premium Rush). They investigate the lasting affinity for the 8-bit aesthetic with personalities in the Retro Gaming community (Sam Claiborn and Jared Petty, IGN; James Rolfe, AVGN; Pat Contri, The NES Punk; John Lester, Gamester81; Norman Caruso, The Gaming Historian; and more), they seek advice from artists and developers who developed games for the official NES library (Mike Soderwall, Color Dreams; Marc Eriksen, box art illustrator; Tommy Tallarico, NES composer; Mike Winterbauer, NES Illustrator), and of course, work with the amazing community of post market developers to help bring this project to life (Memblers, Tepples, John White, E.B.D. Holland, Rachel Weis, Andrew Reitano, Derek Andrews, Rob Bryant, and many others).
The Goal:
In an ambitious project that spans multiple continents and well over 10,000 miles, The New 8-bit Heroes hopes to bring attention to the amazing work post-market NES developers are doing, document the painstaking process that goes into these passion projects, and help foster the ambition in aspiring potential developers to create new experiences for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
