A short film explaining the goals of the CO2 Technology Centre Mongstad (TCM).
TCM is now being built at Mongstad, at the west coast of Norway. Technology Centre Mongstad is the world’s largest facility for testing and improving CO2 capture. Knowledge gained will prepare the ground for CO2 capture initiatives to combat climate change.
The goal of TCM is to test, verify and demonstrate carbon capture, using two different technologies. The CO2 comes from two different flue gas sources: a refinery, and a gas fired power plant.
TCM is a joint venture between the Norwegian state, Statoil, Shell and Sasol.
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is believed to be a vital part in the fight against climate change.
