The idea that there is a ‘spine’ to our continent is an Indigenous concept as old as living memory. Backbone is a contemporary Indigenous dance creation inspired by the rocky mountainous spine of the Americas, and performed by dancers from Canada, the United States, New Zealand and Mongolia. Watch them perform these powerful, stripped-down moments from the production.
Backbone is created by Red Sky Performance, co-produced by The Banff Centre and Red Sky Performance. Original commission by The Banff Centre.
