Jim Bishop has been building his castle every year since 1969. A spectacle of one man's madness or obsession, the castle is a complex mass of twisted iron and stone. The end result is a fantastical, if not dangerous, structure open to all, for a suggested donation.
You can't help getting caught up in it when visiting but to do so, you do at your own risk. There are no safety nets to catch a misplaced step or break a fall. The manic freedom of this place makes it worth the 2.5 hour trek south from Denver to catch a glimpse and enter in to the world of Bishop's Castle
