(60 Minutes) A dramatised documentary about the great Ming/Qing palace at the centre of Beijing. The making of the film was my introduction into China, and although I enjoyed every moment making it - I do wish I had made an accompanying film about its making which would have been as entertaining, if not more so. My collaborators were May Hollingsworth and Caroline Courtauld, two gloriously fiesty women. This is the English version, there is a Mandarin version as well. The film tells the story of the last two Chinese dynasties, the Ming and Qing and their rulers. The film focuses to a certain extent on the Emperor Kangxi and his reign.
