Up until a few years ago, Etsy’s UX research efforts were ad hoc and provisional. They primarily relied on data and experimentation to understand our members’ behavior. That has changed now!
In the past few years, they’ve built a UX Research team that has grown our qualitative function tremendously. In doing so they’ve learned how to design research studies that complement our strong quantitative capabilities and fit naturally with our product design process.
In this talk, Brenna will walk through Etsy’s UX Research with a focus on research she has done outside of the usability lab. In particular, she'll share case studies on ethnographic research, diary studies, post-launch surveys and even an employee-only craft fair designed to test card readers in the wild.
