SEIZE THE ADVENTURE!
A joint-project between Fort William Mountain Festival & Nevis Landscape Partnership to encourage folk to make their way up Ben Nevis in a number of different, interesting and engaging ways with a qualified guide completely free of charge.
The catch? No catch! We simply asked our participants to pick up litter whilst they were out on their adventure and give a little back to the mountain that gives so much to so many.
Over the course of the year there were four fully-booked, super-fun Carpe Diem days which not only gave everyone an unforgettable experience and taught the participants a little about the geology, flora and fauna of the mountain it also made everyone stop and think about climate change and the sustainability of Ben Nevis. Over 50KG of litter was brought down from various areas of the mountain collectively. Jumpers, hats, disposable barbecues, countless banana skins and an inflatable couch amongst the items removed from Ben Nevis.
We hope everyone who came along thoroughly enjoyed their Ben Nevis experience & will pass what they learnt to others setting off on a mountain adventure. Together we hope to tackle litter on Ben Nevis once and for all and start moving towards everyone's dream of a litter-free mountain.
A huge thank you to the guides who gave up their time to support the imitative and shared their infinite Ben Nevis knowledge with everyone who came along. We really couldn't of done it without you so thank you Connor, Max, Dave A, Dave B & Craig!
Another big THANKS! to Zeemon Erdhardt of EBMC who kindly made this film of his Carpe Diem day on Ledge Route in September.
